African Leadership College of Higher Education
Overview
African Leadership College (ALCHE): Education for Impact The African Leadership College of Higher Education (ALCHE), often called African Leadership College (ALC), is a unique university in Mauritius (and part of the broader African Leadership University network that includes Rwanda). Its main goal is to train future African leaders and entrepreneurs. What makes ALCHE different is its emphasis on learning by doing: instead of just lectures, students work on real-world projects, solve problems, and complete mandatory internships, gaining practical skills they can use right away. ALCHE encourages students to "declare missions, not majors," meaning you decide what kind of positive change you want to create in the world, and your studies are built around that goal. A big part of the program is teaching students how to lead, innovate, think like entrepreneurs, and solve challenges creatively. Students come from all over Africa, creating a rich learning environment and a strong network for future collaboration. Furthermore, ALCHE aims to make quality higher education more affordable, with options for financial aid. In short, ALCHE is rethinking university education. It's about getting hands-on experience, leading with purpose, and preparing you to make a real difference in Africa and beyond.
